The Mathieu Beanie

Morning all, and welcome to day 8 and the start of week 2.

Today's beanie is a fun and funky number. It uses a 3rd loop stitch that creates a knit look in sections of the hat. This beanie is sized to fit 40 weeks gestation (full term) I think sometimes we tend to forget that occasionally even bubs that make it to full term end up in the NICU, so I thought it would be a good idea to add in some larger ones as well.

Of course, you could easily make this one smaller, just drop to DK/Light worsted yarn, or even 4ply/fingering with a 3mm hook. Its fantastic for using up smaller pieces of variegated yarn, they really pop against a light solid colour.

When doing stripe work, I tend to drop and pick up my colours, rather than ending and rejoining. Less tails to weave in, and I know how much most crocheters hate weaving tails!

  1. I made this hat in on color, and the special stitches really stood out. Thanks for the pattern.
